What is a house concert?

A house concert is by invitation to someone’s home to hear a show. Most concerts are held in living rooms or backyards (weather permitting) and on weekends, often in the afternoon or evening. The size of the hosts’ residence determines the number of people, but most hosts want to have thirty (30) to forty (40) regular attendees; of course, more are welcome if the location permits. The host may opt to have a potluck, supply light snacks, or ask you to bring your snacks. Most will ask you to provide your beverage; the host may supply non-alcoholic drinks such as water and coffee. It is essential to read the details of your invitation to know what is planned, as it can change with each event.

House concert hosts suggest a donation to attend in the amount of $20.00 to $30.00 per person, usually collected at the door when you check-in. All donations go to the artists. Guests need to understand that their contribution is how the artist gets paid. The house concert host does not profit from the event in any way.

At Casa Con Tiki House Concerts, we request that anyone interested in attending an event subscribe to our emails as this is how we get information to our guests about weather changes and detailed event information. We also ask that guests RSVP to let us know they are coming. Please note that an RSVP is a commitment to attend the house concert and make the suggested donation. The hosts are counting on you to show up and fill the seats saved for you. All donations are for the artist. If you do not show up or cancel at the last minute, we will fall short of our expected contributions. Your patronage helps artists make a living. It also encourages your hosts to bring more artists to you for your listening pleasure.
